The work is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity (2007) from Leo Putz jun. of the catalogue raisonné of his paintings published in 1996. Leo Putz jun. dates the painting to the year 1914, which concludes the so-called Hartmannsberg creative period of his grandfather. The sitter is one of the two sisters Else or Hilde Haun, who looked very similar to each other and modelled for Leo Putz several times in the summer of 1914.
