The actress Tilla Durieux (1880-1971) played the title role of Circe in Calderón’s play at the Munich Künstlertheater in 1912. On this occasion she was probably photographed, drawn and painted by Franz von Stuck in his studio. The photographs are in the permanent collection of the Museum Villa in Munich. An oil painting is held in the Nationalgalerie in Berlin.
